The USGS water quality monitor at Two Bridges (USGS 01389005) in New Jersey provides data that indicates the impact of road salting and wastewater discharges and rainfall on river water quality. The correlations indicate that road salting could cause exceedance the secondary standards drinking water standards for total dissolved solids, chloride, sodium and taste and odor.  The data is also related to water treatment plant operations that utilize streaming current detectors so that coagulant doses to achieve USEPA turbidity standards are maintained.
