Regarding the strategy forthe design of heavy oil catalytic cracking catalyst, fast mass transfer of thereactants and products is a crucial factor and accordingly mesopore-structuredzeolites attract significant interest. In our work, four different types ofultrastable Y zeolite were obtained by the post-treatment of conventional NaY(denoted as USY), alkaline treatment of high silica NaY (denoted as USYA),Boron-containing NaY (denoted as USYB) and Iron-containing NaY(denoted as USYFe), with ammonium exchange and steaming. The poresize distribution data exhibited different pore size distribution widths: ca. 9nm for USY, ca. 17 nm for USYFe, and ca. 30 nm for USYA.Furthermore, USYB showed a bimodal pore size distribution withmesopores of ca. 10 nm and macropores of ca. 60 nm. In addition, catalytic crackingreaction studies show increased gasoline and light cycle oil selectivity comparedto USY when a heavy oil was used as the feedstock.
