This talk will discuss the chemical properties of interfaces between the inorganic cores and organic ligands of semiconductor quantum dots that determine whether the ligands enhance the tunneling probability of excitonic carriers across these interfaces, and thereby decrease the quantum confinement of the carriers without changing the size of the core.
