Nanocrystalline boron-doped diamond-like carbon (BDDLC) film with 2 �m thickness and 3000 ppm B/C ratio has been fabricated by using hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) on Ti surface. With containing significant fraction of sp3 carbon species, wide potential window of 4.0 V (-1.5 to +2.5 V) and low background current, it allows a practical application in electro-analysis. The potential of fabricated BDDLC electrode has been investigated as a sensor for the measurements of Hg2+, Cu2+ and Pb2+ ions with ppm level in aqueous solutions using direct LSV method. In the presence of Hg, Pb and Cu ions, the voltammetric curves have exhibited a well-defined peak at ca. +0.31, -0.03 and -0.51 V, respectively. The calibration plots in 0.2 M acetate buffer have shown the evidence of linear dependence of current and metal ion concentration for Hg2+ at 0.2-2.0 mg/L, Cu2+ at 0.06-1.27 mg/L, and Pb2+ at 0.27 to 4.14 mg/L. The results have revealed the detection limit for Hg2+, Cu2+ and Pb2+ were 1.34�10-1, 6.49�10-3 and 2.90�10-1 mg/L with sensitivity of 0.057, 0.104 and 0.014 �A cm2/�M-1, respectively. Based on these results, BDDLC fabricated in this study is applicable as the sensor for specific metal ions detection.
