Poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) [PNIPAAm] is a thermo-responsive polymer, well-known for its protein repelling characteristic. Due to its lower critical solution temperature (LCST) around 32�C, it is interesting for building smart interfaces for biomedical applications. For example, PNIPAAm can be used to control protein adsorption and to template cell growth. In this study, the temperature-dependent properties of a block copolymer brush PNIPAAm-b-PGMA (Poly(glycidyl methacrylate)) and mixed brushes PNIPAAm/PEG (Polyethylene glycol) and PNIPAAm-b-PAA (Polyacrylic acid)/PEG are studied and compared to the behaviors of PNIPAAm homopolymer brushes [1].
