The American Chemical Society (ACS) administered a survey to its graduate student members in 2013 to assess the graduate student experience from the student perspective.  Supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the survey was designed to identify what is working well in graduate education in the chemical sciences, along with opportunities for graduate programs and the ACS to enhance retention, socialization, and the career preparation of students.  The long-term goal of this project is to catalyze changes in chemistry graduate education, informed by the results of this survey, which will lead to a more positive and productive graduate student experience.  This presentation will highlight the significant findings of the ACS Survey of Graduate Students in the Chemical Sciences.
