Canadian chemistry programs are accredited on a 5-year basis by the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) accreditation committee. For the approximately 90 post-secondary institutions in Canada which offer chemistry programmes, of the 126 post-secondary institutions in Canada, the vast majority are accredited. Accreditation consists of self-reporting by the department every 5 years and a site visit every 10 years. This presentation will describe the standards for accreditation of Canadian chemistry programs. In addition, there are many changes in the direction of both chemistry and science education in Canada. These include new interdisciplinary science programs, incorporating discovery and active learning into the course curriculum, integrating research and teaching, and more group work.  All these new directions in Canadian chemistry and science education will also be discussed in this presentation.
