Despite the tremendous importance of fluorinated compounds in materials science, medicinal chemistry, the agrochemical sector and many other fields, the reputation of fluorine chemistry in the context of sustainability does not usually come to mind.  However, many dedicated scientists are exploiting the most reactive element in the periodic table to develop environmentally friendly materials or green chemical processes.  This presentation will demonstrate along a few selected examples how the Division of Fluorine Chemistry is contributing to a future-oriented, sustainability-driven problem-solving approach.
