Since 1986 a huge number of microwave-assisted organic/organometallic/inorganic transformations have been published with a growing number in every year. It is well known that microwaves directly heat the reaction mixture without heating the glass wall of the reaction vessels. Thus the ‘local heating’ is avoided in microwave-induced chemical synthesis which in turn minimizes the waste (byproduct) formation. Consequently, the desired product is obtained in high yield. Moreover, the dielectric constant (polarity) of the solvent(s) plays a pivotal role in microwave-assisted synthesis. As a part of our ongoing research to develop green synthetic strategy targeted to the synthesis of novel pharmacophores, we have recently developed a microwave-promoted ecofriendly method to synthesize diversely substituted pyranopyrazole compounds. The one-pot four-component synthesis of pyranopyrazoles offers excellent yield of the products in shorter reaction period. The attractive features of this present methodology are the simple procedure, cleaner reaction, easy work-up method as well as preservation of atom-economy. This reaction will find application in the synthesis of pharmacologically active pyranopyrazoles.<br/>
