Fatty acids are important components of living organism. Various kinds of fatty acids play important roles in a variety of physiological and biological functions. Therefore, analysis of fatty acid content in biological samples is of importance. To analyze the fatty acid composition of biological lipids, the complex lipids must be pretreated so that the individual fatty acids are available for chromatographic analysis. The use of HPLC at room temperature was studied; however, most naturally occurring fatty acids do not absorb in the visible or ultraviolet regions, nor do they fluoresce. For this reason, the method of derivatization using 9-chloromethyl-anthracene (9-CMA) was tested. After modifications to the methods developed by Xie et al. (2012) and Sun et al. (2011) were applied, the method was successfully used to deriviatize tridecanoic, hexadecanoic, linolenic, linoleic, oleic, and stearic acid for analysis by HPLC. The separation method by HPL C was also developed achieving successful baseline separation and quantification of each fatty acid. Calibration curves ranging from 1 to 100 pmol were developed with good linearity and R<sup>2</sup> values with a low limit of detection at approximately 100 fmol.
