Concentrations of ozone and nitrogen dioxide gases in Milwaukee are high in the summer months, and they contribute to adverse health effects. The American Lung Association states that Milwaukee has a weighted average of 10.8 days during the summer with an unhealthy concentration of ozone. Palmes-type passive diffusion tubes for nitrogen dioxide and ozone were placed at four different sites between Milwaukee and Chicago to measure the abundances of the gases over time. These tubes were exchanged regularly to gather five-day samples. The concentration of nitrogen dioxide and ozone gases between Milwaukee and Chicago during the summer was determined and analyzed for possible connections.
