Uranium imidos have long been studied to understand their structural parameters, bonding properties, and reactivity.  Recently, we have synthesized uranium tris(imido) compounds, which were previously unprecedented.  These species feature three strongly bonded pi ligands, which has only previously been observed for uranium tri(oxo) derivatives.  Herein we report a new generation of uranium compounds featuring multiply bonded nitrogen substituents, uranium tetraimido species.  Their synthesis, full characterization, and reactivity towards small molecules will be presented.
