The Millersville University Chemistry Department recently received a capillary electrophoresis analysis system. This research project will include calibration and testing of the electrophoresis instrument. Capillary electrophoresis is a technique that separates ions according to there electrophoretic mobility by applied voltage. This method is used for a variety of task ranging from DNA fingerprinting to pharmaceutical analysis. Capillary Electrophoresis is a great approach because it gives quick results and provides high resolution separation. The main focus of this project will be to develop, test, and troubleshoot an experiment for an undergraduate laboratory to seperate a mixture of proteins. The analyze will include the idenification and quantification of the proteins in the mixture.
