By utilizing gas chromatography-flame ionization detection with static headspace sampling, a simple, efficient, solvent-free, and readily commercially available approach for the determination of 12 chlorobenzenes and eight benzene series compounds in water sample was developed. This method with optimized experimental conditions results in a linearity over a wide range of 1 to 200 μg/L for 20 analytes, with correlation coefficients ranging between 0.9962 and 0.9994, and a μg/L level detection limits. The relative recoveries of chlorobenzenes and benzene series with external calibration were also assessed, and the results indicate that the matrix effects on the performance of this method are negligible.
