A major problem the pharmaceutical industry faces is the efficient production of one enantiomer of chiral molecules. Enantioselective catalysts show potential to alleviate this problem, by favoring the production of one enantiomer.  N-Hetrocyclic Carbene (NHC) Ligands bind to metal centers and organic substrates and transfer chirality to the reaction that they catalyze. The goal of our research was to synthesize a novel NHC ligand, with peripheral chiral centers. The desired NHC ligand was unable to be synthesized, due to the last reaction being unsuccessful. After the ligand is synthesized, it will be compared its catalytic abilities will be compared to known ligands.<br/>
