Open access policies are driving a shift toward increased openness across the research lifecycle: from manuscript availability to open data, materials, and research processes. Journals, societies, and funders are exploring ways to mandate or incentivize data, materials, and manuscript sharing. The non-profit Center for Open Science (COS) is a mission-driven technology company building free, open source technology to support open research practices and growing communities around these practices.<br/>COS’s flagship product is the Open Science Framework (OSF), a free and open source web application built to manage the research workflow and enable openness. By integrating with tools researchers already use (Dropbox, Box, Mendeley, Dataverse, figshare, etc.), the OSF streamlines workflows. Integrated version control and logging facilitates good practice without added burden. Fine-grained privacy controls and private sharing links make it easy for researchers to share what they want, when they want, with whom they want. Usage analytics for public resources incentivizes sharing. OSF for Institutions provides universities and other research institutions a showcase for their public research activity.<br/><br/>OSF Preprints (osf.io/preprints), architected atop OSF, is both a preprint server and an aggregator of preprints. Using SHARE (share.osf.io) to gather metadata about preprints across 9+ different providers, users can discover more than 1 million preprints and green OA manuscripts. OSF Preprints is a public goods infrastructure; COS has partnered with communities to build branded preprint servers engrXiv, SocArXiv, and PsyArXiv. COS can focus on the technology, allowing partners to focus on outreach and community-building within their disciplines.
