This presentation will discuss how current and emerging technologies are changing the world in which we live. The merging lines between technologies in the biological, physical, and the advent of cyber analytical systems and how they apply to teaching general chemistry will be discussed. These may include the use of social media, multi-media and virtual simulations, along with student use of tablet and other Smart technologies to scaffold their learning experience. The presentation will consider how instructors can harness the twenty-first century tools to propel learning in general chemistry into the Second Machine Age. It is this commitment to transforming teaching that will empower learners to navigate the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
