In March 2011, a large amount of radioactive species spread over Fukushima prefecture in Japan due to the accidents of Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plants. Until today, decontamination works such as topsoil stripping, branch trimming and so on, have been operated at contaminated areas to reduce radiation exposure level mainly from long-life radioactive species, 137-cesium (<sup>137</sup>Cs). To recover living environment at contaminated areas, "water" which is one of the most important lifeline, must be decontaminated. We have developed radioactive Cs adsorbents by radiation induced grafting method with immobilization of ammonium molybdophosphate, and have ever applied these adsorbents for decontamination of environmental water in Fukushima prefecture for few years. In this presentation, we will introduce some practical studies about adsorbent synthesis and application to the actual fields.
