Nanodiamonds (ND) have become a potential vehicle for drug delivery due to their low toxicity, biocompatibility, and high surface area. Previous work has been done to investigate interactions between NDs and single proteins, convincing us that NDs are in fact ideal vehicles. Our interest now lies in the comparing attachment of two proteins with a ND surface. Comparing attachment provide us with an idea of affinity of the starting materials for a substrate. Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) and Myoglobin both have a high affinity for our NDs however, it is important to study the possibility of all interactions, protein-protein and protein-ND. The composition of the protein on the surface will be observed using UV-Vis spectroscopy. Quantification of the amount of protein bound to ND will be determined using a Bradford Assay. Comparing multiple agents allows us to determine which will be more compatible with the surface and study protein-protein interactions. The study may lead to an understanding of how well two different types of medications could be attached to a single ND or if it is better to have a ND with only a single medication.
