TiO2 nanotube arrays (TNA) were fabricated by anodic oxidation in ethylene glycol solution containing ammonia fluoride and water to prepare highly ordered arrays of titanium dioxide nanotubes on the surface of titanium substrate. The morphology and structural features of TNA were studied by SEM and XRD. The size such as tube length, wall thickness of tube top and bottom, inner diameter of tube top and bottom etc., and morphologies parameters such as aspect ratio, V-shape degree of TNA were measured and calculated. The TNA were cathodized in 1 M NaClO4 solution at a current density of 5 mA/cm2 for 10 min and then an ennhanced current test method was used to test the electrode life to evaluate the stability of the electrode. The effects of electrolysis time and electrolysis voltage on the size, morphology, and electrode stability were investigated, as well as the relationship between morphology characteristics and electrode stability. The results indicate that the prepared TNA are V-shaped nanotube structure, the tube length and the V-shape degree (ratio of the inner diameter of the tube top and the inner diameter of the tube bottom) of the nanotubes prepared at different electrolysis times under 40 V increase with the increase of the electrolysis time. The stability of the electrode increases with the tube length and the aspect ratio linearly(R2=0.966,0.960 respectively), however, the stability increase exponentially with the inner diameter of the tube top and the V-shape degree(R2=0.987,0.984 respectively); in the same electrolysis time, the stability of the electrodes prepared at different electrolysis voltages increases exponentially with the tube length, the aspect ratio, the inner diameter of the tube top and the V-shape degree of the nanotubes(R2=0.978,0.987,0.973,0.719 respectively). The stability of the electrode decreases as the specific surface area of the nanotube increases.
