Guanidine ligands are a versatile platform for coordination chemistry and have a demonstrated ability to stabilize high-valent metals with multiply-bonded ligands. Here we will discuss the copper chemistry of the bisguanidinyl ligand 2,6-bis(tbo)pyridine, where tbo is triazabicylcoocetenyl. The copper(I) complex of this ligand serves a precatalyst for nitrene transfer reactions. We will cover the scope of this reaction as well as attempts to characterize reactive intermediates. Oxygen-based oxidation reactions will also be examined.
