The amyloid assembly of peptides and proteins is often associated with disease.  In the case of ALS both the SOD 1 and the TDP-43 systems are implicated.  Here we will give the assebly of key fragments of the SOD 1 and TDP-43 proteins and several of their important mutants using ion mobility methods.  These methods allow the observation of oligomer growth and with the aid of theoretical modeling oligomer structures.  If time permits AFM, CD and ThT data will also be presented offering a more complete picture of assembly in these toxic systems.
