There have been many efforts to develop self-healing rubbers, however only a few works on the self-healing of chloroprene rubber (CR) have been published in the literature. In this study, we investigated the influence of non-covalent bonds on the healing efficiency of covalent chloroprene rubber network. We incorporated imidazole (IM) and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (ATA) into a chloroprene rubber network, respectively. The IM mainly provided the ionic interaction and ATA not only provided the ionic interaction but also hydrogen bonding with chlorine atoms, which are responsible for their self-healing properties. The self-healing efficiency based on their tensile strength and elongation was evaluated at different healing time. In addition, the self-healing efficiency for CR types with different Mooney viscosities was also compared. It was found that the low viscosity S-CR grade (S-40V) with the addition of ATA at 1 phr showed higher self-healing efficiency of more than 70% at 40 % depth of the horizontal crack under a self-healing condition of 100 <sup>o</sup>C and 10 minutes. This high healing efficiency might be attributed to the dual healing mechanisms of ATA. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first self-healed CR based on ionic interaction and hydrogen bonding healing mechanisms to achieve high self-healing efficiency.
