Many natural products and pharmaceutical drugs contain heteroatom ring skeletons and developing synthetic reactions to obtain the rings have been a challenge. Although utilizing toxic chemical reagents is able to achieve this goal, their corresponding harmful chemical waste causes serious pollutions to the environment. Therefore, we developed low pollution reactions by microwave and electrochemistry and applied the reactions in the synthesis of heteroatom rings such as quinazoline, quinazolin-4-one and benzoxazole derivatives. Furthermore, reactions have been utilized in total synthesis of pharmaceutical targets. None of highly reactive chemical reagents and toxic transition-metal-catalysts are used and, then, hazardous chemical waste is reduced. Detail information of our green syntheses will be discussed in the meeting.
