The ACS “Chemistry in Context” textbook and associated materials affords students the opportunities to discover and learn chemistry through the context of environmental and sustainability issues.  The CIC materials are intended for non-science majors and for students who often have anxiety about math and science to begin with.  After it was created initially, the subsequent material was authored by teams, which provided the opportunity for collaboration and individual, scholarly.  Besides the textbook, a collection of interactive, multimedia content was designed and implemented.  The creative process and material design for both the book and media will be discussed, including illustrative examples and anecdotes.
