Identification of new ligand structures is critical to the advancement of non-precious metal catalysis. To address this need, pharmaceutical libraries that are rich in molecular diversity can be used to discover new ligands through high-throughput screening. As an example of this approach, the development of <i>N</i>,<i>N’</i>-bis(thiophene-2-ylmethyl)oxalamide as a ligand for copper-catalyzed C–O cross-couplings will be discussed.
