<br/>This presentation details our recent work on linking cyclopentafused-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (CP-PAHs) via five-membered rings.  We show that a new class of five-to-five connected materials can be prepared via a Yamamoto homo-coupling reaction, and depending on the PAH connectivity, the resulting conformations can be twisted or completely planar owing to minimal steric repulsions.  The planar structures show increased delocalization, and provide dramatic changes in the optical and electronic properties including lowered band gaps.  In addition, the resulting materials can act a dienes for Diels-Alder chemistry to generate larger PAHs with helicene-like conformations.  These new materials offer new opportunities in the synthesis of carbon-rich molecules.<br/>
