The Indiana Section has had a mutually beneficial relationship with the ACS Leadership Development System for many years. Back in 2000, the Section hatched this crazy idea to host an ACS National Meeting, and after some very intense negotiations, M&E finally granted the Indianapolis Section an ACS meeting. We leveraged that “first ever” milestone towards developing many leaders during the period from 2000-2013, through local, regional and national training experiences. Section Executive Committee members led the charge to host innovative events and Regional Meetings. New councilors were brought in and specifically groomed to represent the Section in various ACS committees (e.g. M&E). In the two years leading up to the Indy National Meeting, the “pipeline of leaders” that had been developed went into action, and created a National Meeting Lead Team (NMLT) that united towards delivering the best ACS National Meeting experience possible. The experience caused every NMLT member to up their game! In the years since, the Local Section has won multiple ChemLuminaries, which are the results of those leaders continuing to leverage their knowledge, creativity, passion and leadership skills.<br/>
