We use operando high-pressure solution NMR spectroscopy to interrogate the kinetics and catalytic intermediates of catalytic CO<sub>2</sub> hydrogenation reactions. In this presentation we demonstrate techniques that allow one to conduct high-pressure NMR safely with good gas-liquid mixing. These techniques allows us to obtain kinetics and to investigate the time dependent structure of the catalyst at the same time.  Recent results using multi-metallic and water soluble catalysts will be discussed.
