Carbonaceous nanomaterials have long been investigated for negative electrode materials in metal-ion batteries. Among the myriad of possibilities for anode materials, graphitic carbon nitrides (g-C3N4) have received recent attention. However, poor inherent electrical conductivity has limited their use in energy storage devices and electrocatalysis applications. We recently reported that magnesiothermic reduction of g-C3N4 resulted in a much higher reversible capacity for Li than pristine graphitic carbon nitride. Herein, we report the comparable Na-capacity of Mg-reduced graphitic carbon nitride after extended cycling.
