Au(I) complexes has since long been of importance in material chemistry, and they have recently sparked further interest due to their anti-bacterial and anti-tumor properties.<br/>Alas, the preparation of Au(I) complexes remains to rely on harsh conditions, hazardous solvents, prolonged reaction times and elevated temperatures.<br/><br/>We have developed a green protocol for the expedient preparation of Au(I) complexes from (hetero)arenes and aryl boronates using mechanochemical conditions. The developed protocol obviates many of the issues with contemporary synthetic methods by omitting the use of solvents, heating and decreasing reaction times. Furthermore the developed protocol allows for a broad tolerance of functional groups and ligands.
