2D covalent organic frameworks, or COFs, are a class of polymeric materials that consist of 2D sheets linked through dynamic covalent bonds, which are stacked in an ordered fashion through non-covalent interactions such as aromatic stacking, dipolar interactions or more recently, hydrogen bonds. The ability to design and control the orientation of hydrogen bond donors and acceptors between layers within 2D COF assemblies can have profound effects on their photophysical properties, and potentially their mechanical properties. This talk will discuss the synthesis of novel COF structures and design approaches to include hydrogen bonding interactions into crystalline COFs.
