Many researchers have revealed the significance of carboxylates metal complexes in various applications in bioinorganic chemistry. These observations on the significance of these metal carboxylates in medicine, optics, catalysis and magnetism have proven that these novel research investigations can be productive to science. Series of supramolecular architectural structures have been found utilizing monocarboxylic acid with some transition metal ions. In addition, it has been observed in our laboratory and others that the use or inclusion of biological active nitrogen-based ligands in the synthesis of several metal-carboxylates complexes have resulted into interesting new structural complexes and which has further shown better efficacy against different bacteria and fungi strains.<br/>These chelates as the case may be that resulted from these new trends of research investigations were seen to possess strong magnetic properties and biological activity with exciting structures, which thus make them to have higher properties than their parent ligands.<br/>The metal complexes were synthesized at an ambient temperature by the reaction of transition metal ions with carboxylates and nitrogen ligands which afforded novel mononuclear and dinuclear metal complexes.<br/>Detailed synthetic methods of these novel bioactive carboxylate type of complexes, their single crystal X-ray data, spectroscopic and magnetic properties including detailed intermolecular interactions obtained from the analysis of the 3D Hirshfeld surface and from the 2D fingerprint plots of the dinuclear complex and their antimicrobial properties will be described.
