Leaving a rising career in academia is hard.  Learning how to do something entirely different than you have ever done is harder. The year I spent as an ACS Congressional Science Fellow changed the entire course of my career and I've never looked back.  It not only gave me an opportunity to test myself in a vastly different work environment, it also gave me an opportunity to learn skills that (I learned later) were in high demand and to build my capacity for leadership and for making hard decisions. I can't wait to tell you all about it.
