Silicon based soft materials possess properties with great promise for energy and optoelectronic applications. The synthesis of new silicon based building blocks promises previously inaccessible structures and new functions. Few examples of fused silicon based building blocks exist. We report the synthesis of a siladecalin (bicyclo[4.4.0]decasilane) building block. A rearrangement reaction in the penultimate step of the monomer synthesis provides a stereopure siladecalin. <sup>1</sup>H and <sup>29</sup>Si NMR spectroscopy are used to probe the structure of the polymer produced by dehydrocoupling polymerization. DFT calculations aid characterization of the polymer.
