Synthetic nucleic acids were synthesized from the interfacial reaction of organotin dihalides and thymidine.  Yields ranged from about 50 to 85 percent.  Chain length ranged from about 1,700 to 12,000.  Infrared spectroscopy showed the presence of Sn-O linkages and bands characteristic of both the organotin and thymidine units.  The polymers exhibited good inhibition of a wide range of human cancer cell lines including those derived from brain and pancreatic cancers.
