In this work, a new class of epoxide was synthesized from pentaerythritol (PE) and 10-undecylenic acid (UDA) by a two-stage process. PE ester was prepared from 10-undecylenic acid and pentaerythritol by esterification method using para toluene sulphonic acid (pTSA) as a catalyst. Followed by epoxidation using meta chloro per benzoic acid (mCPBA). The yields of PE ester and its epoxide were 86.6% and 73.4%, respectively. The synthesized lubricants were characterized by 1HNMR, IR, and Physico-chemical properties. The density of PE ester-based epoxide 1.0741, viscosity at 40 0C is 212.1 cSt, at 100 0C is 80 cSt and viscosity index is 406, the cloud point is -0.2 0C, pour point is -15 0C, flash point is 301 0C, and fire point is 308 0C, were obtained. The synthesized PE ester-based epoxide was compared to commercial HP film oil lubricant samples produced industrially from mineral-based oils.
