Intra- and intermolecular nickel-catalyzed cascade reactions will be presented. In the described reactions, the nickel catalyst engages a secondary mesylate which initiates the cascade reaction. These cascade reactions can be employed to construct vicinal ring systems and highly substituted cyclopropane rings. These reactions will expand the scope of Ni-catalyzed cross-electrophile couplings to include reactions which engage alkyl sulfonates.
