Chemical synthesis is the limiting factor in the invention of medicines, materials and other functional molecules. As the exploration of chemical space pushes ever further into new frontiers, chemical synthesis must continually advance to make better molecules faster. The Cernak Lab is exploring ways to remove barriers to chemical space exploration through the merger of chemical synthesis and data science. This talk will detail some of our interests in the use of automation, miniaturization and high-throughput experimentation towards chemical space exploration, reaction invention and complex molecule synthesis. Details of hardware, software, and strategy will frame our discussion on the use of high-throughput experimentation to discover new chemistry.
