Annexins are associated with a multigene family that involved in multiple functions. In the current study, a total of five annexin unigenes (designated as AnnCt1-AnnCt5) were identified from the guar transcriptome database, and out of the two full CDS of AnnCt1 and AnnCt5 were cloned. They have a predicted molecular weight of 35-37 kDa with a wide range of theoretical pIs 6.0-9.0. The polypeptides of AnnCt1-AnnCt5 shared a 24.44 to 71.74 % similarity score with each other. Phylogenetic and motifs analysis of AnnCts showed evolutionary relationships with higher plant annexins and orthologous sequences in glycin. Most AnnCts have conserved four putative annexin repeats with Ca2+-binding sites in the first and moderately in the fourth repeats. Real-time PCR analysis showed differential expression of AnnCts at both young and mature stages in various organs of guar. Furthermore, the transcripts of AnnCts were up-regulated under drought, salinity, cold, and ABA stress. These results demonstrated that these AnnCts belongs to a typical guar annexin gene family that may have a dynamic expression in organs during development and could participate in the adaptation under various abiotic stress in guar.
