Recent advances in the synthesis and production of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and nanostructured metal oxides have shown promise as decontamination materials against chemical warfare agents (CWAs). We present the most recent results of CWA decontamination using MOFs and photocatalytic metal oxide-based materials.  These materials may represent a new generation of filtration and decontaminants that can mitigate potential chemical threats.  Studies using <i>operando</i> methods such as Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Transmission will be shown that demonstrate materials activity.
