Gas hydrates are crystalline compounds which encages gas molecules in its molecular cavities. CO2 hydrate has immense potency in technological applications like carbon dioxide separation, capture, and its sequestration. The presence of surfactants and amino acids in hydrate forming systems may significantly revamp the hydrate formation kinetics which may improve the process conditions in hydrate-based technologies. In the present study the effect of three types of amino acids (Aspartic acid, Arginine acid and Tryptophan) and two types of surfactants (SDS and Tween 80) - on CO2 hydrate growth kinetics has been investigated. CO2 hydrate experiments were carried out in a fixed bed reactor setup with silica sand at pressure and temperature conditions of 274.15K and 3MPa respectively with fixed additive concentration of 0.1wt. %. Two different bed height were chosen to check the effect of the additives under varying gas saturation. The results obtained from this study would improve the comprehension of CO2 hydrate nucleation and growth and facilitate enhancement in hydrate-based technologies.
