Application of pesticides using unmanned aerial systems (UAS) is of growing interest and may provide benefits to pesticide users and the environment.  The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is interested in better understanding potential exposure of pesticides to non-target organisms from the use of UAS as exposure patterns from use of UAS may differ from those utilized by manned aircraft or ground applications. Additionally, final regulatory methodologies to quantify the potential exposure or movement of pesticides to offsite areas have not been developed. USEPA will summarize the current approach for estimating exposure to spray drift from conventional aerial and ground applications, uncertainties for estimating exposure from pesticide application using UAS, and ongoing regulatory work in EPA in regard to working with stakeholders to better understand exposure from the use of UAS.
