We have investigated the reactivity of various CS2-based borate ligands with different Cp*-based metal chlorides that presented diverse bonding modes of the dithioformate/dithiolate/trithiolate/trithiocarbonate ligand. In addition, a classical [B2H5]- ion stabilized by the binuclear tantalum template. Thus, the CS2-based borate reagents offer a diverse reactivity pattern and generated different types of complexes which may found applications in hydroboration and small molecule activation reactions.
