We will present work on initiating and controlling polymerization reactions using piezo-electric chemical reactions. The method allows the development of materials that respond to mechanical force either autononomically or through sense/respond methods. We will expand on the dynamics of piezo-electric triggering and detail some of the mechanistic insight we have gained. In addition, we will discuss some of the materials applications that these switches and triggers can be used for.
