The modern scientist needs not only to be able to undertake discipline specific research but also to adequately handle, analyse and present data to tell the story of their research, increasingly with much of the analysis being carried out using computational techniques. Some Universities teach a selection of these skills at an undergraduate or postgraduate level, but ultimately many scientists are not taught them by the time they graduate. The AI 4 Scientific Discovery Network teamed up with the Physical Sciences Datascience Service to create a set of educational events to address this. In this talk we present our online seminar series 'Skills4Scientists' that we ran alongside our internship program in 2021. This series, aimed at late stage undergraduate and early stage postgraduate students, covered a range of topics including research data management, python, LaTeX, version control and presentations among other useful researcher skills. We will discuss some of the content that was covered in these sessions, detailing how we structured our events and series outputs and what we learned from running this event series.
