The versality of material properties and eco-compatibility of biopolymers are part of an exciting field of research within the scientific and medical communities.  The structure, morphology, and crystallinity of biopolymers can easily be manipulated in a cost-effective way to maximize their potential applications. Cellulose, a polysaccharide, is an ideal material for research due its abundance, biocompatibility, and modifiable properties.  Ionic liquids disrupt the intermolecular forces which hold cellulose lattices together.  By altering the dissolution temperature, it is possible to analyze cellulose crystallinity as it relates to solubility.  Other chemicals, e.g., hydrogen peroxide solutions, are used as coagulants to reform the matrix.  Semi-crystallinity of the newly formed cellulose polymorph is positively correlated to an increase in the coagulants’ concentration.  This presentation will discuss a synopsis on the fabrication of different cellulose polymorphs as a function of varying dissolution temperatures to better understand possible applications for regenerated cellulose.
