The goal of most research is the elucidation of a compound’s structure. Knowing structure, one can derive energies, potential reaction pathways; predict properties and enhance research into the design of new materials. I am going to discuss several research programs that I am involved in that are investigating the structure of materials and their properties. These range from low coordinate Main Group Chemistry, Crystal Engineering studies with simple Copper salts, to more recently, Conformational Porphyrin Engineering.
