In recent times, numerous experiments have been published which describe various methods of using aspects of green chemistry to incorporate this concept into undergraduate chemistry curriculum. However, in a vacuum, the value of green chemistry is less clear to many students. Here we describe a green chemistry experiment that takes advantage of known Diels-Alder procedures in order to better illustrate the concepts of green chemistry to undergraduate students.
