We have developed an interest in elucidating the mechanisms by which carbon monoxide releasing moieties (CORMs) are thermally activated to release CO under physiological conditions. One such pathway may be metal carbonyl oxidation by reactive oxygen species.  In this context, we will describe a quantitative study of the reaction dynamics of the oxidation of and corresponding CO release from several water-soluble manganese carbonyl complexes upon reaction with hydrogen peroxide.
